Grand event launched New Zealand’s first Grand Millennium hotel

Grand Millennium Auckland launched with a bang

A spectacular event for 300 guests marked the official launch of Grand Millennium Auckland to the New Zealand market. Millennium Hotel and Resorts unveiled New Zealand’s largest hotel as the country’s first Grand Millennium hotel.

Paul Gallop, general manager says Grand Millennium Auckland joins eight other international Grand Millennium Hotels around the world to become a significant part of Millennium Hotels and Resorts’ global network.

The evening involved “celebrating with invited guests, including dignitaries from Auckland and around New Zealand, with a very special event reflecting the Millennium Hotels and Resorts’ international flavours,” he said.

Highlights included a blessing by the traditional Chinese lion, food creations from international locations where Grand Millennium hotels exist, local entertainment, and award-winning wines.

The hotel’s 1,619 square metres of conference space includes a grand ballroom and various meeting venues, two restaurants, a lounge bar, swimming pool, gym and covered car parks.“These are just some of the features that make this hotel outstanding,” said the general manager.

The hotel, previously the Rendezvous Grand Hotel Auckland, has been undergoing refurbishment over the past year and is near completion. The Grand Millennium Ballroom will be re-carpeted next month and new designs for the Atrium Lounge, Club Lounge, Gymnasium and level 14 Terrace are planned.

The central location of Grand Millennium Auckland has it conveniently close to the Aotea Centre, Auckland Town Hall and the city’s main arterial routes. The development is also in the immediate vicinity of the New Zealand International Convention Centre and the City Rail Link and Aotea Square Station.

“With the New Zealand International Convention Centre set for completion in 2019, this hotel is ideal for all markets,” he added.
