Rave reviews tell story for NZ’s best holiday park

A Manawatu property has taken top honours in New Zealand’s Holiday Parks 2018 Awards.

Himatangi Beach Holiday Park was announced winner of this year’s Spirit of Hospitality Award sponsored by AA Traveller.

The sector’s premier gong goes to the holiday park which excels in providing an outstanding visitor experience.

Himatangi beat finalists All Seasons Holiday Park in Rotorua, Athenree Hot Springs & Holiday Park, Miranda Holiday Park and Coromandel Russell TOP 10 Holiday Park to take the top title.

Park owners Alice and Rueben Ebrey say their mantra is to always provide the highest level of service and analyse guest feedback to ensure they’re at the top of their game.

“We make it a family rule that when we step out of our house we have a positive outlook so our ‘positive vibes’ can be felt by customers.

“We always take the time to engage with customers, even when we are busy.”

The judges said online reviews told the story of Himatangi’s success, with guests raving about customer service at the west coast property, found close to Palmerston North.

One was: “Wow. Best camp site in New Zealand. Great owners, friendly and wonderful location”.

Another said:  “Facilities are spotlessly clean and staff very friendly and helpful. Loved being able to have our dog with us for the night too.”

AA Travel and Tourism general manager Greig Leighton said this year’s award was “incredibly competitive” with five “impeccable” finalists.

“All the finalists demonstrated consistently high levels of service, with equally high levels of customer satisfaction,” he said.

“They all showed a willingness to go above and beyond in order to provide holiday memories that will last a lifetime.

“We were incredibly impressed with Himatangi Beach Holiday Park. The quality of experience they are offering is outstanding.”
